Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb have long charmed fans with their loving friendship and shared enthusiasm when broadcasting together on The Today Show. Naturally, fans on Twitter and elsewhere became worried when rumors began to emerge last month that the two co-anchors might be feuding.
Luckily for Today fans, based on their respective recent Instagram posts (and photos together) this seems to be baseless and incorrect. To further back this up, an anonymous insider source reportedly told The New York Post that all rumors about the two fighting are just that— rumors. “Savannah and Hoda are on vacation,” a Today insider allegedly told The Post after the two took time off a few weeks back. “There is no feud. None.” Guthrie, 50, and Kotb, 58, were thought to be in a rift after the former almost missed work on Thursday, August 11th, while the latter was on vacation. Sources allegedly told Page Six at the time that it was to show NBC News “who is the real boss.”

However, the real reason for Guthrie’s absence was confirmed almost instantly on-air, as the journalist explained that she “overslept,” before praising the Today team for getting her camera ready just in time. The team also addressed her absence in a sweet way too, with Montana news reporter Bradley Warren tweeting, “It’s ok @SavannahGuthrie – we’ve alllllll done it,” with a red heart emoji.
A Today source also emphasized that Guthrie did not purposely almost miss the start of the show, telling Page Six: “Everything in this story is demonstrably false. Savannah overslept, plain and simple. She was coming in to work from upstate New York this morning. When the show producer called her, she woke up and rushed in.”

On August 13th, Kotb also seemed to squash the rumors as she shared a sweet photo of her hugging Guthrie with her 2.1 million Instagram followers. “Just because– and thank you!!! It was absolutely perfect !! Xoxoox,” she wrote to her co-worker, who commented “love you mostest” with a heart-eye emoji.
Earlier today, (no pun intended), Guthrie highlighted her return along with Kotb to the show with a sweet post of her own. Along with pics of Guthrie, Kotb, the rest of their team and special guests, she captioned her collection, “and we’re back!!!” with three orange heart emojis. (Aww!)

If that wasn’t enough proof, another source reportedly spoke to Good Housekeeping and noted that the two beloved reporters and proponents of women’s rights are not just close friends, but respectful and deeply admirable of each other’s careers. “It’s unfortunate to see and hear rumors that are not based in reality,” the insider said.
“However, it’s not bothersome because we have the truth on our side. Savannah and Hoda have blazed a trail by supporting one another and other women,” they continued. “It’s disappointing that a manufactured ‘feud’ is what generates clickbait instead of their achievements.”
