Savannah Guthrie has sparked concern from fans after she was noticeably absent from The Today Show on Thursday, October 20th, leading viewers of the top-rated morning show to speculate about her whereabouts. The absence comes after months of reports that the journalist has been feuding with her co-lead anchor Hoda Kotb. Although Guthrie recently called the rumors “silly” in an interview with ET during BravoCon last week, Today viewers are still sounding off online.
So, is Savannah leaving The Today Show? The answer is no. It doesn’t appear that the 50-year-old’s absence from the show on Thursday, October 20th is going to be a permanent one. The reason for her not being in the studios with the rest of the team isn’t what fans had feared most.

2022 Caregiver Champion Award
Savannah filmed her part of the show from Washington D.C., as opposed to New York City with the rest of her colleagues, as she was honored with the prestigious 2022 Caregiver Champion Award at The Elizabeth Dole Foundation’s annual Heroes and History Makers Celebration the day before.
The celebration, presented by Tom Hanks, took place on Wednesday, October 19th, and recognized the work of the nation’s military and veteran caregivers. The Caregiver Champion was previously won by former first lady Michelle Obama, actor Gary Sinise, and country music star Tim McGraw. And her fans and Today colleagues couldn’t have been prouder of her achievement!

Tom Hanks spoke about Savannah’s “stellar” contribution to Hidden Heroes before presenting her with her award, and said: “She’s here not only because of her stellar work that has helped Hidden Heroes itself but because she – let’s face it – she’s a little underexposed.” He continued to joke: “She should be out there a little more often because it’s not just the three hours a day that she’s on. We should make her work at night as well.”
“Perhaps, where her commitment shines the most, is during the many, many, many personal conversations she shares with caregivers out of view of the cameras and I’ve seen that happen dozens of times,” Hanks added, in reference to her work during the Covid-19 pandemic, which included telling caregivers about the resources that were available to them. “With incredible grace and earnest spirit, she assures them that they will not endure their journey alone.”
