Savannah Guthrie, 51, has always been known for her sense of style. The Today show anchor is often styled in forward-thinking fashion choices and she frequently shares images from her day on set to Instagram. But on Wednesday, Jan. 18, Guthrie’s look didn’t only garner praise, as her co-host appeared to look a little shocked by her wardrobe choice.

Savannah Guthrie Wears A Pair Of Slippers Behind The Scenes Of ‘The Today Show’
Guthrie posted an image to her Instagram story of what she was wearing behind the scenes. She donned a metallic blue skirt and a silky periwinkle tuxedo blouse. But what really caused quite a stir was her footwear. The anchor had traded her silver heels for a pair of fluffy gray slippers, leaving Carson Daly, 42, confused. The host’s reaction was captured in the photo as he stared at her with a bemused expression as she walked past.
She wrote on the story, “@carsondaly’s face here,” with a laughing and crying emoji. Guthrie also added the bottom, “Why yes, I did switch to slippers,” before admitting the heels had been hurting her feet so she opted for slippers. And, this isn’t the first time the mom-of-two chose to wear slippers instead of fancy footwear. Last year, she was forced to ditch her heels because they were hurting her feet. At the time, she shared a carousel of photos to Instagram with the caption, “Sprained toe silver lining–doing the show in slippers. I may never go back.”

Guthrie and Daly, and her other co-stars, have always had a wonderful relationship with one another. There is always plenty of banter between everyone both on and off-air. In particular, she adores working with Hoda Kotb, 58, and opened up to HELLO! about their co-anchor partnership.
“We feel grateful every single day,” Guthrie expressed. “I know we feel grateful for this partnership and getting to come and do a job that is literally fun and to get to do it with a good friend who you trust so much and to just hold hands and get to do this together every morning –I never get over that. I still can’t believe it came true.”

Guthrie also recently sparked concern from fans after she was noticeably absent from The Today Show in October. Many of the viewers were speculating about her whereabouts and were worried it might’ve been because of the at the time rumored rivalry between Guthrie and Kotb (which both vehemently refuted!)
But, the reason for Guthrie’s absence in the studios wasn’t because she was leaving or a fight with co-anchor Kotb, but she was actually honored with the prestigious 2022 Caregiver Champion Award at The Elizabeth Dole Foundation’s annual Heroes and History Makers Celebration. Guthrie accepted her award in a pair of classic black heels (not her signature fluffy slippers).
