It’s been a long time since scarf print dresses were considered a wardrobe staple — about 80 years, to be exact — but the iconic 1930s trend is making a major comeback this year. We saw a few brave street style stars experimenting with the whimsical trend for fall 2018, but we have to admit, were a little reluctant at first to let the dress style into our closets. Now with some of our favorite brands updating the classic piece, we’re dying to get a scarf-print dress in our closets ASAP.
According to The Zoe Report, the original scarf print was introduced by the luxury fashion house Hermès back in 1937. Since then, scarves have taken on a life of their own with more patterns and colorways than you could even imagine. While scarf-print dresses took a backseat for quite a few years, classic scarf-print pieces never truly left us, showing up in our closets in the form of hair wraps and neckties in bold floral prints and various designs.
As we patiently wait for warm weather, we can’t wait to start wearing this timeless dress trend. Whether you sport a scarf-print dress with a pair of heels or dress it down with fashion sneakers, the result will certainly turn a few heads.
