Scarlett Johansson broke a few hearts when she spoke about the possibility of her reprising her role as Black Widow. During an interview with Today on Monday, November 13th, the 39-year-old actress spoke about whether Black Widow will be back for another Avengers movie; and to put it bluntly, she wasn’t too optimistic! Say it ain’t so!

Johansson – who was on the show to promote her The Outset skincare line, as well as her role in Disney’s Tower of Terror – cleverly avoided confirming whether she had been approached about reprising her role as Black Widow, but she still had a few things to say about it!

Scarlett Johansson Discusses Possibility Of ‘Black Widow’ Return

“Could it be a vampire version of the character? Cause I’m here for that, like a zombie version, maybe,” the former Marvel star joked when she was asked whether she sees herself returning for another Avengers movie. “I think that’s kind of the end, right?” Johansson continued, in reference to – spoiler alert – her character Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow sacrificing herself in place of Jeremy Renner’s character Clint Barton/Hawkeye to obtain the Soul Stone in Avengers: Endgame.

“It would be a miracle. It would be a real Marvel miracle,” she said in a separate conversation with Savannah Guthrie, finishing off by giving her fans the faintest glimmer of hope and saying: “But, who knows? I’m not sure.”

Tom Hiddleston Discusses MCU Character Returns

Stranger things have happened, so we’re not going to rule it out completely! Especially after what Loki star Tom Hiddleston said when he appeared on a recent episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

When Fallon asked the Loki star if his character could potentially go back in time and therefore lead to characters such as Iron Man and Black Widow returning to our screens in future episodes, he said: “I mean… time-slipping technically gives Loki some interesting moves he can make. Speaking for myself, Loki’s died a few times. I’m still here. I don’t know that death is necessarily… I mean death is — death is up for grabs, as an existential question! That’s all I can give.” So there is hope after all!
