Johansson continued, "I feel really satisfied with this film. It feels like a great way to go out for this chapter of my Marvel identity."
Black Widow released in movie theaters and on Disney+ this weekend after much anticipation. It stars Johansson and details much of the character's backstory.
While fans may be disappointed to hear Johansson's decision to step away from the character, it doesn't come as much of a surprise. The character's death was shown in the 2019 movie, Avengers: Endgame.
However, Johansson isn't completely finished working with Marvel in gneeral.
"I would love to be able to continue to collaborate with Marvel in other ways because I think there’s just an incredible wealth of stories there," Johansson added. "Re-imagining this genre is something that I find very interesting. I think there’s a lot of opportunities to tell these stories in different ways than audiences have come to expect."
Johansson is also quite busy outside of her career. The 36-year-old actress recently revealed that she and husband Colin Jost are expecting a baby.
This will be Johansson's second child and Jost's first. The actress shares six-year-old daughter with ex husband Romain Dauriac.
