It may take several years, but at a certain point it’s normal to notice your iPhone slowing down and taking more time to load pages and apps.
It’s not your imagination.
“After you've had an iPhone for a while and the excitement wears off, it might feel like it runs slower than when you first took it out of the box,” report tech experts at Business Insider. “Sometimes, that's not a feeling – we now know that Apple really does slow down older iPhones to better manage the battery.”
With that said, there are other reasons for a slower phone — and some are in your control.
Your phone may need a new battery. But if it’s a newer model and you suspect that is not the problem, here are a few simple solutions you should try before dashing off to an Apple store. Start by turning your iPhone on and off — sounds too simple to be true, but it can work wonders on your device. The next thing you can do is make sure your iPhone is completely updated and running the latest version of iOS. To do this, go to Settings > General > Software Update > and make sure “Automatic Updates” is set to “On.”
Another move that can make your phone run faster? Delete any and all apps you don’t use — and consider making cuts to some of the battery hogging apps you DO use. De-cluttering your iPhone of unnecessary apps can speed it up, and never underestimate the power of deleting the Facebook app to regain valuable battery power and data.
