Be honest: are you only restarting your phone on the rare occasion when an app stalls or you finally remember to do so after a few months of leaving it running all day, every day? You’re not alone. Even though restarting your phone from time to time can help your device run more efficiently, it isn’t unusual for us to forget and neglect to take simple steps that can make a huge difference in how our devices operate. Tech Expert Laura Homar, Certification Program Manager at Phonecheck, spoke to SHEFinds.com about the three scary signs you should be on the lookout for that indicate you need to restart your iPhone.

Charging Issues

“What many consumers don’t realize about smart phones is that your phone’s software is what performs the charge not the hardware,” Homar says. “A simple reset can be enough to reboot your phone’s software and alleviate charging difficulties. If a reset doesn’t work, this could be a sign your battery needs to be replaced.”

Excessive Pop-Up Ads

“Pop-up ads can be a sign that your phone has been hacked,” Homar says. “While some may be a result of configuration settings within apps, others are signs malware has been downloaded onto your device. A reset is the first line of defense to determine if you simply need to remove or change settings in certain apps or if you have a security issue on your hands.”

Ghost Touches

“If ghost touches randomly appear on your phones display, you may have screen damage or an internal failure,” Homar says. “Perform a reset to ensure the problem is not software related. You likely have a larger issue than a reset can solve if ghost touches continue to appear, or the display becomes completely unresponsive.”

You may be able to prevent problems by taking matters into your own hands and restarting your phone at least two times a month, according to experts.
