We never thought we’d say this, but the latest episode of The Kardashians has us feeling so bad for Scott Disick! In this episode, fans finally got to see what went down when Travis Barker proposed to Kourtney Kardashian—including how Disick, Kourtney’s ex and the father of her kids Mason, Penelope, and Reign, reacted.

The Kardashians had their predictions about how things would go when Disick found out about the proposal. Kim expected him to “lose his f–king mind,” and honestly, she was kind of spot on.
Disick reached out to Kourtney’s sister, Khloe Kardashian, once he got wind of his ex’s engagement. He expressed his fears about what this would mean for his relationship with Kourtney and the rest of her family. “You guys are gonna kick me out now. I’m not involved in the family,” Khloe recalls him saying.
In a confessional, Kourtney opened up about the situation, saying that she really hoped her ex would accept her new relationship “so that the kids can feel good.”
“I’m sensitive to him and his feelings,” the star admitted, but went on to say that, outside of the fact that they share children, she doesn’t want to prioritize Disick’s role in her life. “I communicate with him about the kids and I make sure that he’s good, but beyond that, I just got engaged and I want to be happy in the moment. I just don’t think that this moment is about Scott,” she concluded. It’s safe to say she’s happy as ever in her new relationship, and Scott is one of the last things on her mind.

Her sister Khloe, however, has made efforts to lend a helping hand to Kourtney’s distraught ex. After the proposal, Khloe met up with Disick to talk.
Disick told Khloe he “wasn’t that caught of guard,” by the proposal, but noted that a few years prior, his reaction would have been much worse. “At another time in my life if I’d heard that, life would’ve been over for me,” he admitted.
Luckily, Disick expressed a few positive feelings about the situation, too. “It does give me a lot of relief that she’s happy,” he said. “I kind of, in a selfish way, feel like a lot has been lifted off of me. I think in the end it’s kind of a good thing.”
Of course, Scott Disick wouldn’t be Scott Disick if he didn’t throw in a little shade, adding: “I couldn’t do the job of being with her, so I salute Travis. He’s in for a lot of work… Kourtney is not the simplest when it comes to everything.” Well we’re… happy for him, then?
What really peeved Disick, though, was the fact that his kids were not included in the proposal plans.
It turns out that Kourtney’s children weren’t present at the engagement, even though Travis’s (Alabama, 16, and Landon, 18) were. Kris Jenner said this was because they didn’t want to have Disick’s children present “under false pretenses,” which would’ve been “really hard.” Ultimately, she said, going through with the engagement plans without the children Kourtney and Scott share was “the right thing to do.”
“Hopefully they’re invited to the wedding,” Disick said. We would hope so, too!
At the end of the day, though, Disick seems to be taking his ex’s engagement in stride. His main concern is ensuring he can still be involved in the lives of Kourtney, her family, and the kids they share. “I just don’t want to be pushed out of family affairs that include the kids and things that we normally would do,” he explained to Khloe. Fair!
After Khloe spoke with Disick, she filled her sister in on the details and encouraged Kourtney to talk to her ex about the situation. We think that’s probably the best idea, too. Don’t forget that communication is key, Kourt!
We’re looking forward to seeing how everything plays out, but we’ll have to wait for the next episode of The Kardashians, which streams every Thursday on Hulu.
