In the episode, Disick explained how quarantine had taken its toll on his mental health, and led to him wanting to work on some longstanding emotional trauma. He explained, "This whole COVID staying in ― like no structure ― it just doesn’t work for me."
He added, "It’s like making me feel like I just can’t handle staying home not working."
In a confessional, the reality star continued, "I’m just tired in my mind. I’m thinking ― I wasted all this time, I can’t have any privacy, I can’t have any time to myself. I just can’t handle having nothing really to do."
According to Disick, this uneasiness led to feelings of anxiety and depression: "And the truth was, I started feeling more and more anxious, more and more depressed. Like I was gonna do something bad if I didn’t figure something out or take myself out of this position. I think now is the time to work on it."
Although Disick does go to regular therapy, he felt like a more intensive stay would be beneficial for his longterm mental health. He explained, "I go to therapy every week but I never have any breakthroughs and I never feel happy. You know what I mean? Like I just didn’t grieve my parents correctly or give it enough time."
Kourtney encouraged Scott's decision and was hopeful that it would help him be the "best that he can." She explained, “For the first time Scott isn’t being asked to go away. He isn’t having an issue with alcohol or drugs and it’s like his idea, so I think it feels really different."
"And I want him to be the best that he can, you know, for my kids and for himself and for me. And so I’m more than happy to support him in any way that I can. This time I think it’s really, like, bringing up important work that we all have to do," she added.
He decided to attend a specialized rehab facility in Colorado to do just that. He explained, "A couple of people told me about this place that specifically deals with, like, past traumas and I just wanna learn how to deal with everything the right way."
Unfortunately, due to a privacy leak, Disick did not stay long at the facility, and his attempt at self-improvement led to a rumor about substance abuse that his lawyer. Marty Singer, firmly denied.
