Selena Gomez shut down trolls after at the premiere of Emilia Perez during the French American Film Festival in LA on Oct. 29!
The singer and actress wore a strapless red sequin dress that seemed to highlight her midsection from different angles. Once trolls saw her appearance, they flooded TikTok with nasty body-shaming comments. Some of them even assumed she’s pregnant, even though Gomez stated that she’s unable to get pregnant due to health reasons. Others claimed she looked “bloated” and “probably gained weight.”
Once the Rare Beauty founder came across the now-deleted TikTok, she responded by clapping back at the trolls and pointed out the health reason that caused her to look the way she did.

Selena Gomez Claps Back At Body-Shaming Trolls
In a screenshot posted by The Daily Mail, she said, “This makes me sick. I have SEBO in my small intestine. It flares up. I don’t care that I don’t look like a stick figure. I don’t have that body. End of story. No, I am NOT a victim. I’m just human.”
According to the Mayo Clinic, “small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) commonly results when a circumstance—such as surgery or disease—slows the passage of food and waste products in the digestive tract, creating a breeding ground for bacteria.” Symptoms include bloating, diarrhea, malnutrition, among others.
Her fan came to her defense on TikTok, noting that she’s undergone many health struggles, including her 2017 kidney transplant.
Fans Defend Selena Gomez From Trolls Who Criticized Her Body
"She said she has SIBO. Look it up, please. It causes severe bloating; I have this too."
"She looks beautiful! She's happy; people need to leave her alone."
"It’s the fabric of her dress and the video angle... It’s so sad that people are shaming her."
"I feel like a lot of yall forget she is sick, and she openly has talked about it."
In September, she revealed that she cannot carry her own children due to medical issues.
"I unfortunately... have a lot of medical issues that would put my life and the baby’s in jeopardy,” she said to Vanity Fair. "That was something I had to grieve for a while."
