Selena Gomez has just announced ANOTHER social media break after confirming her romance with Benny Blanco and simultaneously shading her exes in a comment war with a fan. Fans had been speculating about a potential romance between the singer and the producer, and Selena confirmed it herself on Dec. 7th. That same day, she responded to a fan saying that Benny Blanco had reportedly shaded her over three years ago: “He’s still better than anyone I’ve ever been with.” After all this back and forth, the Rare Beauty founder decided: “I’m leaving Insta for a while.”
This isn’t the first time—or even the second or third time—that Selena’s announced a social media break. In February of this year and October of this year, Selena took short hiatuses from Instagram after small bouts of drama popped up. And it looks like she’s doing it again. Selena Gomez Confirms Romance With Benny Blanco
Fans began speculating that Selena and Benny were romantically involved after an episode of Selena + Chef: Home for the Holidays featured Selena saying, "I have a crush on someone." Last month, Benny posted a picture of his new book on Instagram, and Selena commented, "Finally," and reposted the picture on her Instagram story with the caption, "One of my favs releasing a cook book." She also posted a photo with him and Paris Hilton on July 22nd. So, all signs were pointing to something going on between them.
Then, the Instagram account @PopFactions posted a photo of the pair with the words, "Selena Gomez Is Rumored To Be Dating Producer Benny Blanco," and Selena shocked fans by commenting on the photo, "Facts."
The same day, the Instagram account @SelenaGomezbr2.0 posted a screenshoot of Selena's comment, and Selena commented on this post, too! She adorably wrote, "He is my absolute everything in my heart." She then replied to her own comment with the word "LOVE". So cute, right?

Some fans didn't think so. User @aajosixx replied to Selena's comment and said, "he cursed you, that's not treating you well," to which Selena replied, "then why has he been the best thing that's ever happened to me. The end."
Then, another fan chimed in with, "you're just corny omg that man was shading you years ago," and Selena replied, "lol yeah and he's still better than anyone I've ever been with. Facts."
Benny Blanco Reportedly Shaded New GF Selena Gomez Years Ago
As fans pointed out, there were speculations back in October of 2020 that Benny Blanco was throwing shade at Selena while promoting Justin Bieber's new music. Justin Bieber, Selena's ex, and Blanco were collaborating on a new song, "Lonely," when he was interviewed by Zach Sang.
"Justin's not one of those cookie-cutter pop artists," he said. "Like, you know, they're like, 'This is my new single and here's my makeup line.'" Selena Gomez had just launched her makeup line, Rare Beauty, in September of 2020, and had released her album, Rare, earlier that year.

Before announcing her social media break, Selena left one more comment: "I don't understand. If you actually care about me. This is my happiest. If you dont' feel free to say whatever you want. But I will never allow your words to guide my life. Ever. I'm done. If you can't accept me at my happiest then don't be in [sic] y life at all."
This foreshadowed her next comment, which announced her social media break. The Instagram account @FeelingsForSel posted a picture of Selena and Benny with the words, "Selena is in a relationship???" They captioned the photo, "Idk why I feel like she is trolling us after all the comments I have read," and Selena left one last comment:
"Never trolling. I'm leaving Insta for a while until I have work again. I just stand up for what I believe in I have no shame in doing that. I love my fans more than anything in the world."

Is She Really Leaving Insta, Though?
Even after she left that comment, Selena was still posting on her Instagram story. One photo is of her leaning on a man's shoulder—seemingly Benny Blanco—and the next is a black screen with the words, "Just a reminder of how much I appreciate and love each and everyone one of you."
Then, a mirror selfie, following by a repost of a reel from @OhMyDisneyUK featuring her from her Wizards of Waverly Place days, and another one from @Girl and @Flighthouse of a blooper reel from the show.
Next she reposted a story from @DominicJWest, who reposted her story, and finally, a photo of her left hand, with a sparkling "B" ring on her ring finger...
As of right now, it's unclear if Selena's actually taking a break from Instagram. We hope not!
