If you love makeup and staying up-to-date on the latest and greatest beauty products out there (like these tinted moisturizers!), there’s a good chance you’re a Sephora Beauty Insider. This rewards program gives members the opportunity to take advantage of discounts and earn points to save money on rewards. But one of the greatest perks has always been the fact that every member gets a free product on their birthday—as of June 1, though, that will no longer be the case. And members are not happy. Find all the info below!

Sephora will now require a minimum purchase for birthday gifts online

There's so much to love about birthdays, and if you're a Sephora Beauty Insider, you have one more thing to add to that list: a freebie gifted from the store when it's your special day. Much to the dismay of aspiring beauty gurus everywhere, however, the store recently sent out an email stating that that freebie will no longer be free if you redeem it online. On top of delivery surcharges on groceries and fast food restaurants making changes to their reward programs, it seems like we just can't have nice things anymore!

"Starting June 1, 2023, clients will need to make a minimum merchandise purchase of $25 to redeem their Beauty Insider birthday gift at sephora.com or sephora.ca," the brand announced to members.

While this is disheartening news for those of us who prefer to do our shopping online, there's still hope for in-person shoppers. The email assured readers that "you can continue to redeem your birthday gift in our Sephora stores with no minimum purchase required."

But customers are still not having it.

"Sephora already has the worst rewards program possible. Now we gotta essentially pay for the typically free bday samples they give?! They’re gonna have to go to h*ll. I’m so sorry," one member tweeted.

Another Tweeter who broke the news to her followers (jokingly) called for action: "Sephora is now forcing people to make a 'minimum purchase of $25' to claim their bday reward gift," she wrote. "All I have to say to this is: we ride at dawn." LOL!

So, what do you think? Are you hopping on the Sephora hate train? Or are you willing to stop in the store for your birthday freebie?
