Sephora's doors have been shuttered since mid-March (of course, we still have online--thank god!). It was one of the first companies to make the decision at the onset of the pandemic, and now that states are beginning phases of reopening, they're following suit.
In a May 19 release, the company announced that it would start reopening locations in communities that they deem safest, as apart of cautious approach. Smart!
“As we gradually reopen our stores over the next few months, we have taken great care in how we welcome back our employees and our clients," Jean-André Rougeot, President and CEO of Sephora Americas, announced in the release.
At the center of their reopening strategy is a newly established Sephora Health & Hygiene Guidelines, or " rigorous new safety and client service protocols," designed "to protect employees and clients while safely and confidently providing support, expert advice, and a welcoming experience for all."
The new guidelines including updated employee training, 48 safety procedures that address social distancing and restricted store capacity, deep cleaning and enhanced hygiene measures, mandatory face masks for all employees and in some cases customers, and temperature checks. We applaud the company for taking these measures!
So, how will these new policies affect your experience as a Sephora shopper? Testers will still be off-limit, in-store services will remain unavailable and the retailer will continue its extended return policy that accepts returns with receipts for all purchases made just prior to and during the shutdown for 30 days.
