Shakira sent her loyal army of fans into a frenzy on February 15th, as she took to Instagram to announce that her brand new album – her first in seven years! – would be released in just over one month!
The 47-year-old “She Wolf” singer almost broke the internet with the announcement that her long-awaited 12th studio album Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran (Women Don’t Cry Anymore) would be released on March 22nd. To get fans’ attention, her announcement came alongside a series of jaw-dropping pictures of herself in some provocative outfits, including a chrome breastplate (our favorite!) and skin-tight PVC pants teamed with a strapless plunging top.
Shakira Announces New Album On Instagram
"My new album, coming out March 22, is one I created together with all of you, my pack of shewolves who were there for me every step of the way," Shakira wrote on Instagram, alongside the Jaume De Laiguana lensed pictures.
"Making this body of work has been an alchemical process," the "Hips Don't Lie" hitmaker continued, adding: "While writing each song I was rebuilding myself. While singing them, my tears transformed into diamonds, and my vulnerability into strength."
We assume she is referencing the tough few years she has had, where she has not only split with long term partner Gerard Piqué, 37, but also gone through a highly-publicized tax fraud case.
Fan Comments
As expected, Shakira's fans flooded the comments section with praise for her stunning pictures, while also mentioning how excited they were for her new music to arrive. "Looking amazing Shakira," complimented one fan, followed by a black heart emoji and a hand praising emoji. "Always a beauty," gushed another. "Queen!" exclaimed another, followed by three fire emojis, two hand clapping emojis, and one hand praising emoji.
"I love you so much. I'm very proud of you," praised another fan, as someone else said they "can't wait" for the new music to drop. "Album of the year is coming," added another fan. "Love you forever. You're the coolest artist, who's always reinventing herself," commented another.
