Shakira just took to social media earlier this week to describe the frightening moment she and her son were attacked by a pair of wild boars in Barcelona, opening up about the damage of the incident. Hopping on her Instagram story on Wednesday, the 44-year-old singer detailed the harrowing moment, explaining the bizarre attack that happened in a Barcelona park.
In a series of videos which she shared to Instagram cropping out her face, the singer explained the moment the boars came after her and her son Milan, even attempting to run off with her purse. “They were taking my bag to the woods with my mobile phone in it. They’ve destroyed everything,” she announced, continuing, “Look at how two wild boar which attacked me in the park have left my bag.“
The singer then showed her bag to the camera which had been left muddied and damaged from the attack. “In the end they left the bag because I confronted them,” the singer shared. “Milan tell the truth,” Shakira added, turning the camera to face her son. “Say how your mummy stood up to the wild boar.”
Wild boar attacks have increased dramatically in Barcelona over the last several years, and have even spread across Europe, with the singer not being the first victim of attack from the disease carrying animals. According to a report from The Guardian, there were 1,187 phone calls made reporting boar-related issues back in 2016 in Barcelona alone as the animals run rampant.
Thankfully both Shakira and her son made it out of the attack safely and without injury. However, it’s unlikely that this will be the last boar related incident occurring in Barcelona as the issue continues to grow.
