Seriously, anything can come back in style. But it looks like the fashion world isn’t keen on letting platform heels and knee-high gladiator sandals back into their good graces. These shoes were all the rage in the early 2010s thanks to stars like Kim Kardashian and Ashley Tisdale who rarely left the house without their favorite pumps and strappy sandals.

Now, it looks like fashion girls are opting for more sophisticated and comfortable footwear. Gone are the days of struggling to walk in uncomfortable platform pumps and trying to strategically get your foot inside of a knee-high gladiator sandal. Instead, it's all about modern, comfortable block heels and elegant mule sandals.

“Women are rejecting the notion that they have to suffer if they want to wear sexy, beautiful shoes,” podiatrist and luxury footwear designer Joan Oloff tells The List. “In 2018, women are becoming empowered and choosing fashion that coexists with function. We are just at the beginning of this shift and I am excited about what we are seeing for spring!”

Here are some of the shoes you're about to see everywhere this year:

Steve Madden Carrson Sandal ($89.95)

This minimalist-style sandal will elevate any outfit with its gorgeous hue and 4" block heel. Not only are they super stylish, but they're also easier to walk in because of their stable heel. If lavender isn't your favorite shade--even though it's one of the trendiest colors of 2018--you can choose from 12 other colors including nude, royal blue, dusty blue and rose gold.

Urban Outfitters Patti Mule Heel ($39)

Not only are these shoes incredibly cute and on-trend with their pink hue and suede material, but they're also super comfortable, too! They'll add a modern-chic element to any outfit and will photograph really well for any upcoming Instagram posts you've got planned for spring.
