Simon Cowell has finally opened up about the “mystery illness” that caused him to walk off the set of Britain’s Got Talent and miss some auditions. According to the 64-year-old music mogul himself, he has been suffering with migraines for quite a while, and appeared to be experiencing one at the end of a long day of auditions, which caused him to leave the set.

Cowell wasn’t shy about telling his fans why he walked off the set at around 9pm and missed two of the last auditions of the talent show, in a bid to end the speculation once and for all.

Simon Cowell Opens Up About His Migraines

"I just found out, according to the internet, I have a 'mystery illness.' For anyone concerned, I missed two auditions at the end of one day, two weeks ago, because I do get migraines after long days in the filming lights," the former American Idol judge wrote on Instagram on February 4th, as the caption to a photo of himself wearing orange-tinted glasses.

The second picture in the two-image carousel was of a fly, which we assume is Cowell likening his appearance in the glasses to that of a fly. "Next week we are filming BGT in Manchester - I look forward to seeing you then. PS. This is why I wear these glasses!" he added.

This isn't the first time Cowell has been spotted in his orange-tinted glasses. Back in November, he told a reporter on the America's Got Talent: Fantasy League red carpet that "everything looks better" when he wears them. He joked: "You look amazing!" He added: "And you know what, it cuts out all the blue light on computers and iPads. I have lights in my face when I am filming so this cuts out a lot of that."

Fans Wish Simon Cowell Well On Social Media

Many fans wished the talent show judge well in the comments section of his Instagram post, with many saying they knew how he felt as they too suffered badly with migraines, and others thanking him for opening up about wearing the glasses.

"I totally understand: I get migraines: so sickly painful and totally draining. Takes a while to recover. Get well soon. Take care of yourself Simon!" wrote one fan. "As someone who has to wear these glasses due to light sensitivity and chronic migraine, I really appreciate seeing such a big celebrity wearing them on a regular basis. Thank you Simon!" commented another, as another sympathetic fan added: "I get migraines too just from one light! They must be awful in all those lights. Take it easy."

"Hope you feel better! @tomfletcher wears similar glasses onstage lately due to issues he has had with Uveitis. You do what you do to make it work and shouldn't have to explain to anyone!" wrote another fan. "Feel better," commented another, followed by the flowers emoji. "Feel better soon," added another fan, as someone else said: "Hope you get well soon Simon." "Prayers sent," added another.

Simon Cowell Is In 'Fantastic Health' According To Insiders

A source close to Cowell reportedly told People that his fans shouldn't have anything to worry about, as he is in "fantastic health," and any other reports of an "illness" are "maliciously exaggerated" and "complete nonsense."

"He occasionally gets migraines from being under the bright filming lights for long stretches," the source explained to the mag, adding: "His tinted glasses help a lot however, unfortunately he's been prone to migraines and the filming lights are particularly bright."

"He's in fantastic health, better than ever and great fitness too, is biking and walking a lot every day and has started reformer Pilates for strengthening his back," the insider added. "All his friends are telling him to bring out a range of his own light-filtering glasses now to help others."
