Simon Cowell’s Shocking Wedding Announcement—We Didn’t See It Coming!

Simon Cowell, 62, is planning to marry his fiancée Lauren Silverman, 44, next month in London, as a source reportedly told The Sun. The couple have set a date for June, according to the reported source, and their son Eric, 8, will be “front and center,” and play an important role in the celebration. The X Factor creator and socialite confirmed their engagement in January 2022 after he proposed to her on Christmas Eve in Barbados.

The engagement and wedding may come as a surprise to many, a source reportedly implied, since Cowell has long stressed that he did not wish to ever get married. As an “insider previously claimed the past two years,” according to The Daily Mail, facing the life-changing global pandemic and breaking his back are two reasons why he might have changed his previously rigid stance on marriage.

Now, as The Sun indicates, a source reportedly revealed to the publication that “Simon cannot wait to have Lauren as his wife and didn’t see the point in delaying it. He has taken charge of the planning and the date has been set for June.” The source added, “It’s been a long time coming and now Simon wants to get Lauren up the aisle as quickly as he can.”

Another source reportedly said to People that Cowell and Silverman “have fun together, as well as being each other’s rock.” They continued, “they are both passionate but really do bring out the very best in each other. As a family, they all have such an incredible bond. A lot of things have happened in the last few years and just like for everyone else in the world, these things have all been a reminder about what is precious to them.”

Cowell recently spoke to The Sun after confirming his engagement, and discussed how falling in love with Silverman made him realize that marriage was indeed for him, just more importantly, with her. “I also just couldn’t see myself ever dating anyone again,” he said. “The idea of going out on a first date now is too weird.” The America’s Got Talent judge also noted that   he reassessed his views on relationships and love when looking at marriage through his son’s perspective.

“For Eric, as he gets older, he will be asked more and more about his parents, and I thought it was the right thing to do for him,” Cowell explained. While Cowell has never previously been married and has one son with Silverman, she was previously married to businessman Andrew Silverman who she shares another son, Adam, 16, with.
