Sarah Jessica Parker and Kim Cattrall have had no shortage of drama over the years, and while Cattrall has typically been more vocal about her disdain for her former co-star, when asked about the potential for the character Samantha to join the cast of ‘And Just Like That…’ it was Parker who recently had plenty to say. The series has been artfully dancing around Cattrall’s absence from the show, but while recent episodes left the door open for her return, SJP quickly shut it down.

After being asked whether she would be okay with Cattrall joining the show for the second season, which has yet to be confirmed, SJP responded, “I don’t think I would, because I think there’s just too much public history of feelings on her part that she’s shared.” On the topic of the feud she also added, “I haven’t participated in or read articles, although people are inclined to let me know.”
Cattrall and Parker have had a tumultuous relationship since the ending of ‘Sex and the City’ back in 2004, and Cattrall has been publicly vocal about her distaste for her former co-star on a number of occasions. In an interview back in 2017, Cattrall revealed that she and her former co-stars were “never friends,” adding that Parker “could have been nicer” to her.

Cattrall’s brother also passed away in 2018, and when Parker reached out to send her condolences, the actress took to social media to say, “I don’t need your love or support at this tragic time @sarahjessicaparker.” Cattrall added, “My Mom asked me today ‘When will that @sarahjessicaparker, that hypocrite, leave you alone?’ Let me make this VERY clear. (If I haven’t already) You are not my family. You are not my friend. So I’m writing to tell you one last time to stop exploiting our tragedy in order to restore your ‘nice girl’ persona.”
All this considered, it’s not entirely shocking that SJP wouldn’t be thrilled to welcome Samantha back to the show with open arms, but it doesn’t even sound like a possibility from Cattrall’s end either. Back in 2017, Cattrall told Piers Morgan, “The answer was always no and a respectful, firm, no,’” of returning to the franchise for another film.
