Sleeping is so important to how our body functions. So it's no surprise that there is a way your sleeping habits can affect your weight loss.
According to Dr. Adrienne Youdim, MD, director of the Center for Weight Loss and Nutrition in Beverly Hills, California, "Insufficient sleep or sleep deprivation is associated with weight gain." Just another reason why it's important to get enough Z's!
But what about lack of sleep causes weight gain? Dr. Youdim explains, "Studies show that limiting sleep or interrupted sleep revs up hunger hormones like ghrelin, and drives a craving for carbs and calorie dense foods like sweets and fats."
Whether you're trying to lose weight or not, getting at least 8 hours of sleep is important to your overall health.
