If you’re experiencing major battery drainage, your first step is to check which apps are causing most of the problem. Go to Settings > Battery and view which apps have been snatching battery power within the last 10 days. There’s an excellent chance this one social media app is to blame (and could be draining your battery by as much as 40 percent!).
Sorry to break it to anyone who loves posting videos and images on Facebook and keeping up with the lives (and rants) of friends and family, but the social media app is way up there when it comes to listing apps that can have a seriously negative effect on your device.
According to security experts at Nord VPN, battery drainage is far from the only issue users experience with the Facebook app. “Facebook tracks you across all its apps and websites. It even tracks you when you log off Facebook. Its app requires almost every permission there is.” Among the permissions it requests: your contacts, call logs, and text messages, your camera and microphone, your internal storage, your Wi-Fi, your location.”
The Facebook app also tracks the websites you frequent when you aren’t on the app. It pays close attention to your online purchases and interests and then sells that info to its advertisers.
The Facebook app is a battery drain, a data hog, and a nightmare in terms of privacy. But the good news is: you can simply delete the Facebook app and keep enjoying the site via your browser.
