One common way people jazz up their veggies and low-carb meals is with spices and seasonings. They’re the best ingredients to add fun bold flavors to whatever you’re eating. Not to mention, most spices are super healthy and could help with your weight loss.
But, there’s one seasoning that you have to be wary of if you’re looking to speed up your metabolism. It’s often misperceived as being good for you because of its ingredients. But if you give it a closer look, you’ll see that it’s actually slowing your metabolism.
Any type of seasoning mix is not good for weight loss and speeding up your metabolism. A large number of seasoning blends we use to spice up our cooking contains MSG. This dangerous excitotoxin is known to lead to inflammation and obesity if eaten in high quantities.
Seasoning mixes that should be avoided include taco seasoning, seasoning blends, chili seasonings and pizza seasoning. LIVESTRONG reports that 1 teaspoon of chili seasoning mix contains over 300 milligrams of sodium.
Make sure you check the labels of the seasonings to avoid buying these unhealthy varieties that will slow your metabolism and weight loss progress.
