Sour cream and pasta are two of the coziest combinations. However, a lot of people discover that eating typical pasta recipes can lead to digestion and bloating troubles. This is because they include a lot of dairy and hefty carbohydrates; however, there are lots of substitute ingredients that can help with digestion.

These substitutions assist in preventing the upset stomach sensations that are typically connected to traditional pasta meals.

Violet Witchel (violet.cooks), a TikToker who has over 2.6M followers and shares nutritious recipes, recently posted a spicy sausage sour cream pasta that won’t “give you that gut-bomb that regular pastas” tend to give you.

Spicy Sausage Sour Cream Pasta

The dish begins with finely cutting the garlic and shallot, then cooking them for five minutes in a heated skillet with olive oil and sea salt.

Next, add around 1.5 pounds of sausage to the pan and let it cook down along with the garlic and shallot.

While Witchel says you can certainly use canned tomatoes, you can also try to go the extra mile and peel your own tomatoes after they boil in hot water. Roughly chop the tomatoes if you peeled them yourself, or you can wait for the sausage to simmer before adding the canned tomatoes. Then, pour in one cup of water or chicken stock, and boil everything for around twenty minutes.

At this point, you can boil your pasta while the sauce is finished cooking. Next, add one cup of dairy-free sour cream to the sauce once it has completed simmering.

When the pasta has finished boiling, add it to the sauce and stir well to coat everything. You can finish by adding some fresh basil and a dollop of extra sour cream, but that’s not required!

How This Recipe Can Avoid Bloating

This recipe uses dairy-free and more easily digested ingredients to prevent bloating and other digestive problems that come with conventional pasta. Garlic and shallots are anti-inflammatory ingredients that can help with digestion. The protein source that sausage offers slows down digestion and avoids the sharp spikes in blood sugar that come with eating pasta.

When used in moderate amounts, dairy-free sour cream relieves some of the bloating and other gastrointestinal issues that typically come with such a dairy-rich dish. Furthermore, choosing whole grain or gluten-free pasta can help lessen the chance of experiencing gastrointestinal distress.
