If you’re a fan of the popular Siren Birthday Cake 1.7oz Bites that are distributed and sold nationwide at Target locations, it is imperative to read on (especially if you have any nut allergies). On Jan. 27, the FDA announced that Siren, the snack company, issued a voluntary recall of the sweets because the food contained nut products that were not listed on the label. This, they explained, can be detrimental for anyone with nut allergies.
This was ultimately discovered when a customer had an allergic reaction after eating the product and then reported the incident to the Siren company, as reported by Thrillist. These “birthday cake”-flavored bites contain cashews and almond butter, but neither of these ingredients are listed on the packaging.
Siren says that customers who may have purchased this recalled item should return it to the Target store where they bought it and request a full refund. Target shoppers are also able to request an exchange of the bites for one of the unaffected kinds.

It’s a good idea to still check the bags in your pantry, if you do have them, and note the UPC code on the Siren Snacks Birthday Cake 1.7oz Bites Bag. The FDA notes that the affected bites will have the following UPC codes: UPC: 8-62768-00048-3 and UPC: 8-62768-00049-0. The lot codes on the front of the bags are 21326, 21335, 21336, and 21340. The FDA stresses that no other Siren products were recalled or contain cashews or almond butter without a proper label.
To contact Siren about affected bites or to learn more information, you can reach the company by email at [email protected] or also by phone at 650-667-0874 on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. PST.
