Believe it or not, but your diet can do a lot for your skin. And there are several dehydrating foods you should avoid if you’re looking to keep your skin looking fresh and well-moisturized.

And there is one food that is much worse than all others.

Sugar is the one food you should avoid at all costs. Not only is it bad for your internal health, but it can also destroy your complexion. This is because it dehydrates the skin, draining moisture and leading to an older-seeming appearance. Plus, sugar can also impede on collagen and elastin production, making your skin less equipped to repair itself from damage.

While you should always try to cut down on your sugar consumption, now is the time to really cut back. Eating too much sugar can cause dryer skin, particularly in the fall and winter.

Try rejuvenating your skin by eating foods that can help it retain moisture and appear more energized. There are a ton of nutrient-rich foods that are good for your skin—even some snack foods.

Some of the best snacks you can eat are dark chocolate, blueberries and nuts. They are all rich in antioxidants, which can help your skin to repair itself from damage, lock in moisture and maintain a brighter complexion.
