Chocolate, sugar, flour, eggs, butter—all the good, bad things. These delicious ingredients are staples in many desserts, including chocolate chip cookies. We hate to be the bearers of bad news, but there is one delicious dessert you really shop stop buying the next time you go to Costco: chocolate chip cookies.
We know, we know – but hear us (and an expert!) out.
With each 210-calorie, you’re also having 11g of fat, 27g of carbs, 3g of protein, and only 1g of fiber. Sure, you could burn it off with a 20-minute jog, or a 30-minute bike ride. But health experts say that cookie really isn’t worth the game.
Health & Wellness Expert, Erin Stone, explains “ These cookies may taste good, but they are extremely harmful to your health.” We all know sugar isn’t good, but Stone warns of the serious health concerns to be mindful of. “Diabetes can develop as a result of the excessive sugar level, according to experts. Not only that, but the calories in these cookies are incredibly high, and these fats can contribute to obesity and weight gain. Although these cookies are enormous and visually pleasing, they are highly hazardous to one's health.” Beyond that, portion control is a major consideration. Stone added, “The chocolate chip cookie from Costco is big enough to feed three people at once. As a result, eating the entire cookie will be detrimental to your health in the long run.”
Yes, they’re delicious but, no, you shouldn’t buy them. While a chunky chocolate chip cookie may provide some emotional comfort, there may be scientific explanations for why it’s almost impossible to each just one cookie.
Some research suggests that ingredients in chocolate chip cookies may have additive properties with cravings comparable to drugs like cocaine. This is why it’s hard to really have limit your consumption (or, portion control). It’s also why it might be the best idea to avoid them altogether.
