Suzanne Somers Is Putting Work Aside And Focusing On Her Health After Cancer Battle, Husband Says
"Suzanne has lived with cancer all her life," Hamel told the outlet. He added: "In her 20s, she’d also dealt with two hyperplasia … which is the waiting room for cancer."
Hamel, 87, went on: "She has now dealt with her cancer once again" — and that "on June 6, she got an all-clear, but cancer is tricky and we will now closely monitor everything going forward."
Somers' husband continued, stressing: "All her doctors said if she didn’t lead a chemical-free, organic life supported by bioidentical hormones, she wouldn’t be with us."
After being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2000, Somers turned to healthy habits to help her recover.
The Step by Step actress started getting more sleep, transitioned to an all-organic diet, and avoided the use of chemical-based foods and beauty products.
In a 2021 interview with Park Magazine, Somers opened up about her balanced lifestyle. "I have to say that since I embraced health, I have never enjoyed life more. I like the way I look. I like the way I feel. I like my energy … I can tell you that aging can be so incredible if you know how to approach it. It takes a little bit of work," she said.
While Somers is currently cancer-free, Hamel told Page Six that the couple wanted to concentrate on her health, first and foremost, before any career ventures.
"We decided to put work on the back burner for now and focus on her health," he noted.
The American Graffiti star's husband continued: "Cancer is a huge epidemic. A few years ago, she dedicated one of her books to 20-plus people in our lives who died of cancer." (We wish Somers a swift recovery!)
