Sweeney is taking on the role of Martin in an untitled sports biopic, helmed by director David Michod, which has recently begun filming. Martin, 56, a former professional boxer, had an impressive career spanning from 1989 to 2012, earning the title of world champion in the super welterweight division in 2009.
Her life took a harrowing turn in 2010 when she survived a brutal murder attempt by her ex husband, James Martin, who attacked her with a knife and a gun in their Florida residence. Remarkably, she survived the ordeal. In 2012, her ex was found guilty of attempted second-degree murder and received a 25-year prison sentence.
