Taco Bell Pulled These Items From Menus And Fans Are ‘Heartbroken’

November 12, 2023 by Faith Geiger

Taco Bell gives and Taco Bell takes. Sure, there are plenty of inventive new items rolling out at a steady rate at this Mexican fast food restaurant—but we also frequently have to say goodbye to many of our favorites. Below, we’ve rounded up a few fan-favorite Taco Bell items that have been discontinued in recent years, from decadent burritos to surprising sweet treats. Proceed with caution; it’s a tear-jerker.

1. 7-Layer Burrito

How can we ever accept a burrito with anything less than seven layers?! This guy had everything we needed to hit the spot: refried beans, guacamole, cheese, onion, lettuce, sour cream, and tomatoes made it the perfect vegetarian item. And now it's left a hole in our hearts. It disappeared back in 2020, and we still miss it to this day.

As one person put it on X, the website formerly known as Twitter: "Taco Bell has officially removed potatoes ant the 7-Layer Burrito. This is hearbreak." Dramatic? Maybe. But we get it.

Luckily, there are plenty of other burritos that are added to the menu on a regular basis. (Hello, Steak & Bacon Grilled Cheese Burrito!)

2. Loaded Grillers

We'll never forgive Taco Bell for what they did back in July 2020 when the restaurant eliminated their mouthwatering Loaded Grillers from the menu. This tasty, grilled goodness came in three varieties: The Beefy Nacho Loaded Griller, the Chipotle Chicken Loaded Griller, and the Loaded Potato Griller. Each one featured crunchy red strips. The beef one also had nacho cheese, while the Chipotle Chicken option contained (you guessed it) chipotle sauce and reduced-fat sour cream. Our personal favorite, the Loaded Potato Griller, also included reduced-fat sour cream, along with bacon and nacho cheese sauce.

"Taco Bell needs to bring back the loaded grillers," one person posted on X. We agree. Oh, how we miss you.

3. Grilled Steak Soft Taco

There's something about a steak taco that really hits the spot. Taco Bell used to offer a delicious Grilled Steak Soft Taco. This menu item was topped off with lime sauce, lettuce, cheddar cheese, tomatoes, and an unreal Avocado Ranch sauce. We're getting sad just thinking about it. Like the Grillers, we had to say goodbye to this bad boy in July 2020. What an awful year.

4. Caramel Apple Empanada

No meal is complete without dessert, which is why the Caramel Apple Empanada made such a fantastic offering at Taco Bell. We're real suckers for seasonal treats (like the Pumpkin Spice Frosty), so this fall-forward menu item was a serious game-changer. Inside the crispy empanada crust, you found warm caramel sauce and apples.

"Missing the caramel apple empanada from Taco Bell today," one person wrote on X. Same.

We said goodbye in 2019, but we'll keep our fingers crossed that this apple-y treat can make a comeback, even in a pumpkin spice-obsessed world.

Which one do you miss the most? Let us know in the comments!
