Target has a lot of loyal customers that look forward to traversing the aisles and letting what they need come to them, perhaps with a Starbucks coffee in hand. But lately, Target customers are furious with the retail chain and are even calling for a boycott of the store over their new age-restrictions—now, customers under the age of 18 are not allowed to shop at Target without adult supervision. While not every store is imposing these new rules, the ones that are have customers riled up. Keep reading for more information.

Target’s New Age Restrictions

This year, Target has been ramping up their fight against retail theft—they’ve put many different products in locked glass cases, closed self-checkout, and have employees standing at all exits checking receipts. Many people believe that this new age-restriction is another one of their anti-theft efforts. A user on X, formerly known as Twitter, posted a video of her local Target in the Bronx that has numerous signs banning individuals under the age of 18 from shopping in the store.

The clips shows multiple postings about the age restriction, with signs reading, “All guests under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult at this Target store.”

Target has not yet confirmed the reason behind the new age restrictions at select locations, nor has it stated whether or not this new rule would be enforced in more Target locations.
