I have wanted a Christian Dior Book Tote for quite some time, and now it seems the folks at Target are ready to make that dream a reality. The box store just released a $30 dupe of the popular toile tote via their A New Day fashion line, and as you would expect, the internet is smitten with the much lower-priced look-alike bag. Did I mention that the Dior bag is $3,000?!
A shoutout to the sleuths at Target Over Everything and Target Run With Bri Instagram accounts who posted on their pages this week that the adorable Jacquard Boxy Tote handbag was back in stock. I actually wasn’t aware of it existing in the first place, but apparently it sold out *very* quickly last time.
Target Jacquard Boxy Tote Handbag
The Target version, like the original Dior bag, comes in different sizes: there’s a small and a regular size. The small features an adjustable black strap and the bag itself is 7 inches by 9 inches–more of a party purse size. The other boxy tote is 13 x 16 and can be worn under the arm like an everyday purse. It features magnetic closures and smaller inside pockets that the customer who were lucky enough to get their hands on the bag said made it “the perfect work bag.”
Other reviews called out how this is one of the best bags they've found in Target's fashion section recently. "I’m impressed with the quality of the fabric, stitching, and the bag’s structure," a user named "Dddd" who gave the bag a 5-star review wrote. "It’s also very aesthetic and versatile. I can use it as my personal item while traveling with the airlines or as a small beach bag or day bag. More bags like this please, Target!!" Preach!
Now, it is definitely worth noting the there are some very distinct differences between the Dior tote and the New Day tote. For one, the Target bags don't have the dark bar across the middle of the bag (where the "Christian Dior" logo goes on the original). Additionally, the patterns are slightly different. But you're a sophisticated audience and you can both see the resemblance and in general, understand how Target's is more of an inspired-by bag, not a literal knock-off. Also, it's just downright cute.
