Hats off to Target–the chain just announced that it will continue giving it’s employees enhanced pay until May 30!

The retailer announced that it will keep its $2 per hour temporary wage increase through the end of the month in a release on their press page on April 23rd. We are so happy!

The continued enhanced pay is meant to aid its most important employees--frontline team members--whose "significant contribution" to the company, aka showing up to stores everyday, has helped amid the COVID-19 outbreak. We love this policy and applaud the chain for making this crucial call.

The company also announced that it will also continue to give access to free, safe and reliable back-up care for team members, and a 30-day paid leave for team members who are 65 or older, pregnant or who have underlying medical conditions, as defined by the CDC. Huge snaps!

"This follows a previously-announced $300 million investment in wages, bonuses, paid leave and benefits for its frontline team members," the release continues. This includes protective equipment, dedicated shopping hours and discounts for team members.

“We have deep gratitude for the remarkable effort our team has put into supporting guests across the country," CEO Brian Cornell revealed. "We remain committed to prioritizing our efforts to provide for their well-being so they can take care of themselves and their families during this unprecedented time." As they should!

The Minneapolis-based company has taken other safety measures, including providing free face masks and gloves, implementing rigorous cleaning procedures and social distancing protocols. The company even provided thermometers for team members to perform at-home checks prior to coming to work. We love this!

We think it's so important for these major corporations to take good care of their employees and customers at this time. What do you think--has Target taken the right steps during the novel coronavirus pandemic?
