With the holiday shopping season in full swing, it’s helpful to know what deals you can benefit from at Target. The department store chain recently announced its Holiday Price Match Guarantee, which runs until Christmas Eve, and allows customers to request a price adjustment on items purchased at Target. Here’s what we know about the policy:

What Is The Target Holiday Price Match Guarantee?

Back on October 6th, Target announced its Holiday Price Match Guarantee, and revealed that it will be available until December 24th (just in time for the holiday week!) Essentially, as In The Know explains, Target customers will be able to request a price adjustment on all items purchased at their local store during this time period— if the retailer lowers the price *after* they have made their purchase.

According to Target’s website, the company will “match the price if you buy a qualifying item at Target and then find the identical item for less at Target.com, select online competitors, or in Target’s or competitor’s local print ad.” Price matches may be requested at time of purchase, they note, or within 14 days after purchase.

If a customer finds a current lower price within 14 days after purchase, they are instructed to “bring in the proof” and Target will adjust your payment to the lower price, upon request. Target store price matches and adjustments, they add, are “completed at the store on any lane.” For Target.com purchases, you can also call Target.com Guest Services at 1-800-591-3869.

What Is Excluded From The Price Match?

Target lists the following kinds of items as ones that will be excluded from the price match policy: "Clearance, closeout, liquidation sales, damaged, used, open package, refurbished, pre-owned, or rent/lease to own items, storewide or category promotions, offers advertised as % or $ off, non-branded items, or prices that only display on a website after guests log in."

They also note that "pricing due to typographical errors, competitor lightning sales (including Amazon Prime or Amazon Fresh Exclusive offers), coupon offers, loyalty cards, promotional codes, credit card offers, gift card offers (Target GiftCard, specialty and pre-paid gift card), financing, service offers, bundled offers, sales tax promotions, free items, rebates or mail-in offers" won't be eligible for a price match.

Lastly, this also includes "contract mobile phone devices and the associated plans, optical, product services (warranties, assembly, etc.), clinic and pharmacy purchases and offers, or game reservations, “Marketplace” prices from third party sellers, and "any item sold by a Target Plus™ Partner on Target.com or any Target application" are not eligible for price match.
