Taylor Swift just proved that she can not only rock full-glam bejeweled bodysuits or show-stopping gowns for her Eras tour, but she can also slay low-key outfits. The singer has been stepping out more lately, and her recent jeans-and-tee attire for another night out in New York City, while simple, still screams effortlessly cool. Swifties love the 90s-inspired black acid wash jeans Taylor wore—and hope that means there’s a grunge album in the making!

Taylor Swift Wears A 90s-Inspired Outfit For A Night Out In New York City
For a night out in New York City, Taylor donned a form-fitting black, ribbed short-sleeve shirt. Her tee featured front buttons, most of which she left open for a plunging v-neck design. She tucked the simply chic top into a pair of black (almost gray) acid-washed, baggy jeans that looked like a catalog item from the 90s.
The jeans had a criss-cross design in the front that cinches for a unique waistline. They’re the Criss Cross High Rise Jeans from Agolde, a Hollywood-famous premium denim label just about every celebrity wears, including Rihanna, Chrissy Teigen, and Gigi Hadid.
To complete her night-out look, Taylor went with a pair of chunky The Row combat boots for an added grunge effect. Taylor styled her blonde hair in a high pony with her side-swept fringe perfectly framing her face. The “Blank Space” singer opted for a golden brown lip, cat eyeliner, and a dash of highlight on her cheekbones. She also sported a black Mara Saddle Bag, chunky hoop earrings, and a gold chain that resembles a choker. Fans also pointed out that she wasn’t wearing her iconic “J” necklace anymore after her recent breakup with Joe Alwyn.
In early April, Taylor and Joe reportedly called it quits because of “differences in their personalities.” They “had rough patches before and always worked things out, so friends thought they would take some time apart but eventually come back together,” a source told Entertainment Tonight, but “ultimately” they “weren’t the right fit for one another.”

Fan Comments
When the Instagram account Taylor Swift Style, a fan page that tracks Taylor’s fashion choices, Swifties couldn’t get enough of her 90s look. “She comes back stronger than a 90s trend,” one fan commented, referencing a fan-favorite lyric from her song “Willow.” Another fan hoped her attire meant that Taylor was recording some new music, “Please tell me she’s working on writing a 90s grunge rock album,” they wrote. “I do feel like the 90s style has always been a bit of a Taylor thing. She has always loved a Mary Jane and cardigan (staples of the 90s queens) and a bit of a looser cut denim – clearly not as blatant as this true 90s style denim but overall I think this is really her in her vibe,” a third commentered emphasized.
Another fan pointed out that she was not wearing her her “J” necklace anymore, “Blatantly not the Joe necklace.” Other Swifites wondered if Taylor’s edgier, grunge style has something to do with her recent breakup. “These looks are reminding me of Bleachella’s edginess! Is it a callback or does our girl prefer a *slightly* more masculine style post breakup?” referencing the singer’s bleached blonde hair and punk look she wore to the 2016 Met Gala. Either way, we hope to see more of Taylor’s grunge, bleached-era looks in the future!
