Did Taylor Swift Replace Her 'Chipped Tooth' This Year? Dentists On TikTok Think So
Dr. Joyce Kahng, a cosmetic dentist and proprietor of O+M Dental Studio in California, has recently shared a TikTok video wherein she hints at Swift concealing a chipped tooth with a new set of veneers.
Veneers are popular among celebrities and are cosmetic dental coverings that fit over the front of teeth to make them appear even.
The doctor suspected that the "Cruel Summer" hitmaker underwent an "express service" at the end of September. "What's common with celebrities is that they often pay to have a one-day turnaround," Kahng said in the clip. She added: "[Swift] probably went in on the 27th, and by the 29th, they were installed."
Social media dental experts claim that Swift, who was just named the 2023 Time Magazine 'Person of the Year' has undergone a range of dental procedures to enhance her smile, which has allegedly cost her over $30,000. These procedures allegedly include braces, veneers, and gum operations.
Dr. Vikas Prinja, a dentist based in the UK, has noted that braces, which can cost up to $6,000, are often the primary option for correcting dental issues.
After analyzing a photograph of the "Lavender Haze" crooner as a teenager, Prinja noted that her front teeth were naturally crowded and her lateral incisors, located adjacent to the canines, were slightly longer than average.
Prinja's video garnered over one million views. In it, he said that Swift's "canine teeth didn't drop completely, so they're a bit high." During her teenage years, Swift also wore braces. However, Prinja suspects that she may have had them removed prematurely as one of her canines did not fully reach a typical height.
"The gumline is much higher than the rest of her teeth," he went on. Back in 2008, Swift took to her YouTube channel to share a video of herself being fitted for new retainer molds. The reason for this was because she was forgetful in wearing it during her tours.
After a few years had passed, Prinja examined different photos of Swift and surmised that she may have opted for veneers to give her teeth a more uniform look.
"Her peg-shaped lateral incisors now look like they're a full shape," he explained. The dentist added: "Her front two teeth look like they've got a little bit of translucency, and her back teeth look much more opaque and white."
Veneers, a popular cosmetic dentistry option, can rectify a multitude of dental imperfections including discolored, uneven, or damaged teeth. According to a report from The Daily Mail, the cost of veneers varies and can range between $250 to $2,500 per tooth.
However, the price may escalate in metropolitan cities like New York, where veneers can cost up to $4,000 per tooth. As a result, the total expense for a full set of eight veneers may fluctuate between $2,000 to $32,000, based on location and other factors, the outlet notes.
Along with veneers, Kahng also suspected that Swift may have underwent a gum contouring process at some point over the past ten years. Kahng made an observation after comparing an older photo with a recent one that Swift's chipped tooth seemed to be situated much higher in the gums in the past.
To address this, gum contouring, a procedure that entails removing surplus tissue to reshape the gum line, can be performed. This corrective treatment often costs up to $350 per tooth.
Regardless of what Swift may have gotten done when it comes to her teeth and gums, there's no denying that her smile is stunning and always has been over the years!
