Taylor Swift’s album release is less than a month away, and her PR team is working overtime getting fans ready for The Tortured Poets Department, what will be the pop star’s 11th studio album. Last week, Taylor dropped five different playlists, each named after one of the tracks on TTPD, and each one is based on one of the five stages of grief.

Swifties were quick to realize that many of the songs on the “Denial” playlist, titled “I Love You, It’s Ruining My Life,” were written about or with Taylor’s ex-boyfriend of several years, Joe Alwyn. Is Taylor dropping hints about why she and Joe didn’t work out? Many fans think so. Keep reading for all the details.

Taylor Swift Drops Denial-Themed Playlist

Taylor's playlist, "I Love You, It's Ruining My Life," has 19 songs on it, including "Lover," "False God," "Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince," "Lavender Haze," and "Ours." Some of the best love songs out there, right? Wrong! At least, according to Taylor.

In a voice memo at the beginning of the playlist, the 34-year-old elaborates: "This is a list of songs about getting so caught up in the idea of something that you have a hard time seeing red flags, possibly resulting in moments of denial and maybe a little bit of delusion."

So many Swifties were heartbroken to hear that many of Taylor's most love-infused songs are actually representative of being so blinded by love that you can't see the red flags. Especially the Swifties that chose "Lover" as their wedding song!

Fans Are Devastated By Taylor's 'Red Flags' Revelation

Swifties immediately took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share their thoughts on Taylor's relationship revelation. "Taylor Swift putting all her sappiest love songs on a 'denial' playlist absolutely ruined my day," one person tweeted.

Another fan added that "Lover" falling into the "denial stage is so insane. Imagine the greatest love song ever made was a gaslight song? Imagine all the weddings who played that? All the couple videos it was edited to?? Taylor Swift, you're so funny."

"Taylor Swift revealing that The Tortured Poets Department is about the five stages of grief and that 'Lover' was a song written during the denial stage..." another person said. "This woman is really trying to kill me."

"Welp, there goes my wedding song," a final fan said.
