Taylor Swift captivated the Grammys 2025 audience in Los Angeles earlier this week in a stunning ruby red glittering Vivienne Westwood couture dress featuring a draped corseted bodice and an asymmetrical design.

The Tortured Poets Department songwriter and style icon, 35, donned the one-shoulder gown adorned with a red jeweled chain along her thigh, resembling a rosary and ending with a “Tcharm. While many admirers praised her fashion choices, her signature eyebrow-length bangs sparked online criticism on TikTok.

Taylor Swift Fans Debate Her ‘Crazy’ Thick Bangs After Latest Red Carpet Appearance

One user described her fringe as “confusingly thick,” and another remarked that her bangs were “almost merging into mullet territory.” Soon after the ceremony aired on February 2nd, TikToker @djhungryhuman1 uploaded a video analyzing Swift’s look and glam, and how her hair allegedly “never slays.”

In the video, the commenter said: “I’m gonna state the obvious first, which is that the hair is diabolical. Whatever is going on with the bangs… the bangs are crazy, like, what?” The TikToker continued: “What’s happening here?” The creator added that Swift’s makeup for the event, which consisted of her usual black winged liner and red lipstick, looked “very good,” but called her hair and this outfit “a miss” overall.

Other fans and critics headed to the comments section to share their thoughts, with one writing: “I cannnnnnot with the bangs.” Someone else replied: “I’ve never understood the bangs.” One other concurred, noting: “Who is telling her the front and center bangs & that color are what’s best for her? It’s been YEARS.” An additional user shared: “I wanna do her hair so bad. I’m so tired of the bayyyanggggs.” Others disagreed, stressing that Swift looked “gorgeous” as one commented: “what?? those r just normal bangs.”

As any Swiftie can tell you, the "Anti-Hero" singer has sported bangs for roughly 13 years, ever since she first introduced them in 2011 during a Vogue photo shoot. Back then, Swift posted an image of her fresh hairstyle on Instagram, simply stating, "Got a haircut," and included a snapshot of herself with a friend. In a behind-the-scenes video from the Vogue session, the "Cruel Summer" artist shared more about her choice to cut her hair, a feature that has now become a hallmark of her appearance.

"It was a pretty interesting morning because they were like 'We're thinking we're gonna do maybe bangs, maybe some extensions,'" Swift explained in the video. She added: "And I'm like 'You know what? Just cut it. this is Vogue, why not.' So I have bangs now."

The "Shake It Off" crooner went on: "A new hairstyle and new makeup. I love that I got to pose with my instruments. It's just so exciting to get to make a departure from what people usually see me looking like but still be recognizable and it was a great balance with the two."

Since then, Swift has thrilled some fans and let down others with her choice of bangs. Throughout the years, she has experimented with various captivating hairstyles in addition to the fringe, such as her dramatically bleached bob for the 2016 Met Gala and her faux curly bob for the 2023 premiere of her Eras Tour film, among others.
