Though Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn’s breakup made headlines this past April, fans are now speculating that their split could’ve actually occurred years earlier. On Nov 29th, Swift announced that she was putting her song, “You’re Losing Me (From The Vault),” that originally came out this past May, just one month after the breakup announcement, on all streaming services. That same day, her producer and collaborator Jack Antonoff posted an Instagram story telling fans that the heartbreaking song was actually written on Dec. 5th, 2021.
News came out in early April that Taylor and Joe broke up after over 6 years of dating, and fans were heartbroken for the singer, as some of her most loved-up songs, like “Cornelia Street,” “Lover,” and “Endgame,” are speculated to be about the Brit. But now, fans are thinking their relationship may have ended a lot earlier than we think, because “You’re Losing Me” points to a relationship on the rocks. Keep reading for more information.
The song, “You’re Losing Me” is a rather sad one, with the speaker wondering if their relationship has run its course, nearly begging the other person to show that they care. “I can’t fund a pulse / My heart won’t start anymore / For You / ‘Cause you’re losin’ me,” Taylor sings.
The second to last verse is what really makes fans think Taylor’s heartbreak is older than a few months: “Do something, babe, say something (say something) / Lose something, babe, risk something (you’re losin’ me) / Choose something, babe, I got nothing (got nothing) / to believe / Unless you’re choosin’ me.”
