Taylor Swift was spotted on an sunny autumn date with Joe Alwyn in New York City this week— rocking a plaid skirt and sheer tights combo that we’ll def be stealing this fall! The Grammy winner, 32, and the Conversations With Friends actor, 31, were photographed out and about together just ahead of her long-awaited tenth studio album release.

The “cardigan” hitmaker has been teasing her new album, Midnights, since first announcing it back in August. Swifties are currently counting down the hours until the clock strikes midnight on October 21st to hear her new music! For now, we can fawn over her epic fall style. Swift donned a chic oversized black sweater for her outing, pairing it with a red-and-black plaid skirt underneath, sheer black tights, and topped it all off with a tan leather Ralph Lauren purse slung over her shoulder.

The “Cruel Summer” singer wore her long blonde tresses and bangs down and styled straight, accessorizing her get-up with shiny mini hoop earrings. Alwyn wore a green sweater with light wash blue jeans, carrying a notebook and wearing black framed glasses beside his longtime girlfriend.

Swift recently revealed to her 228 million Instagram followers in a video post that her upcoming record will contain a romantic track called “Lavender Haze.” This special opening song, she explained, was inspired by her relationship with Alwyn, whom she’s been dating since 2016. “I happened upon the phrase ‘Lavender Haze’ when I was watching Mad Men, and I looked it up because I thought it sounded cool,” Swift said to fans in the clip. “And it turns out that it’s a common phrase used in the ’50s, where they would just describe being in love.”

The Red (Taylor’s Version) songwriter then added, “If you were in the lavender haze, then that meant that you were in that all-encompassing love glow, and I thought that was really beautiful.” She went on, “I think a lot of people have to deal with this now, not just like ‘public figures,’ because we live in the era of social media, and if the world finds out that you’re in love with somebody, they’re gonna weigh in on it.”

While Swift didn’t mention Alwyn by name, the musician did say that in her current relationship, she and her partner have had to keep their heads up while facing public scrutiny. “Like my relationship for six years, we’ve had to dodge weird rumors, tabloid stuff, and we just ignore it,” Swift said. “And so this song is sort of about the act of ignoring that stuff to protect the real stuff.”

Most recently, Swift teased a brand-new lyric on Monday, October 17th on a billboard in New York City’s Times Square: “I should not be left to my own devices…” This lyric emerged while Swift unveiled the Midnights release week’s promotional schedule in a video shared across her social media accounts. “Mark your calendars! Meet the Midnights Manifest,” read the post’s caption.

She also shared with fans that a “special very chaotic surprise” will arrive at 3 a.m. EST Friday morning, as well as an “Anti-Hero” music video at 8 a.m. In addition, Swift told her IG followers early Thursday morning that she will premiere the trailer for her new album during tonight’s (Oct. 20) Thursday Night Football game between the New Orleans Saints and Arizona Cardinals. “Meet me there?” she cheekily asked in the video, and to that, we say we wouldn’t miss it in our “Wildest Dreams!”
