Blunt Bob With No Layers
You won’t often hear us complain about the bob — it’s a classic cut with a length that works on most face types and is exceptionally low maintenance, but still chic. Here’s where things can go wrong with a bob, though: when it’s all one layer, flat, and features no movement. And before you say “Uma Thurman from Pulp Fiction,” referencing her sleek black bob, remember: the character Mia Wallace’s hair lacks layers, but does have a slight angle to it and thick bangs. In other words, a bob often comes alive with some interesting detail that draws the eye in and gives it style.
If you have a blunt bob and no layers, your hair may just sit there. The solution is to talk to your stylist about ways you can add layers and texture to your bob, while keeping the ends blunt (if that’s your preference).
Thick, Straight Bangs
Bangs are a trend that aren’t going anywhere anytime soon. We’re still seeing plenty of curtain bangs, wispy bangs, and angled bangs, but one bang trend that is slowly dying is an early aughts treasure: thick, straight bangs. This tip deserves a caveat: some people look amazing with thick, straight bangs. This bang type may make hair look thicker and more luxurious, if the bangs are cut well. But if your goal is to look more current, this is one trend that has peaked and is slowly subsiding. As your stylist for wispier bangs instead so that all of that weight is removed from the front of your head.
Copper Hair
With social media, hair color trends come and go faster than ever. But this one — copper hair — has stuck around longer than most. The bright, lighter shade of red had a major moment the past few years, but the fervor around it is dying down. If you’re curious about the colors that will be hot this year, we’re looking at expensive brunette, buttercream blonde, ginger red, and honey balayage.
Staying current in your looks doesn’t always require a complete makeover. Bypassing haircuts and colors that are on their way out and are “tired” in favor of fresher ‘dos is sometimes the best way to go.
