The 4 Apps To Delete From Your iPhone If Your Device Is Acting Slow & Lagging

There could be a few reasons why your iPhone is slow and starting to lag. Is it a really old device? Maybe it needs a battery change? Perhaps your battery power is dwindling fast because of a too-bright screen or other settings like Background App Refresh being constantly turned on.

But if all of these above reasons don’t apply and your phone is still as slow as a snail, it’s time to open yourself up to the possibility that you’re using one too many apps that are known for slowing down your phone. These resource-intensive apps do so much that all of that working overtime can result in a less efficient phone. Try deleting these apps to get your phone up to a less frustrating speed.

Facebook

Facebook streams videos, posts constant updates, and is consistently grinding to bring you new content. All of this means it’s also one of the most taxing on your phone and its battery. Many Facebook app users have reported a significant boost in battery power and phone speed simply from deleting the app. If you miss the connection that Facebook offers, you can always access it via your browser.

Music Apps

Music apps don’t just play the music you want to hear — they also use sophisticated search functions to predict the music you’ll want to hear in the future. Anyone who has listened to music on YouTube, for example, knows they’re going to be sent 30 similar songs as recommendations. All of these predictive analytics tools take up power, and all of that power they take up can tax your phone and make it slower.

Browsers

Whether you’re partial to Safari or Google Chrome, your most trusted browsing app can also be causing you a mountain of headaches when it comes to your phone’s speed. To quicken things up, make sure you clear cookies and data on your browsers every now and then. Go to Settings > Safari > Clear History to free up your browser and phone — just make sure you bookmark any sites and save passwords separately so that you don’t lose access to sites you love.

Other Social Media Apps

Facebook has probably received the most criticism for the ways in which it takes up so much battery power, but it’s not alone. By the very nature of what they do, social media apps like Instagram, TikTok, and Snapchat are battery hogs. They require so much data from you to operate, including your location, contacts, and even your microphone at times. Cutting down on the number of social media apps you use is a smart way to prolong the life of your phone’s battery. If you must use them, try to pick and choose one or two to use and delete the rest to speed up your phone.
