You want to look your best every day, even when that day starts at 6am. You want to get the hang of wearing makeup in a way that complements your skin and features after age 40 — but maybe you’ve noticed your needs have changed. Your skin may feel like it sags more, your eyelids have drooped a bit, and the same makeup look that worked for you in your twenties isn’t doing your beauty any justice.
This makeup video was made just for you:
These are the five simple makeup tips anyone can follow that will get you daytime glam in no time. From contour to brows, take these simple tips and make your morning makeup routine a beautiful breeze.
Contour
Contouring with a simple stick that is darker than your skin color doesn’t have to be complicated to be effective. Draw a line with the stick under your cheekbone, along your chin, and forehead. This helps minimize the area of your face that you want to in order to highlight other areas (such as cheekbones). Take a makeup brush and tap in the product and blend it out. You can always use your finger. Remember: blending well is super important.
Apply Concealer & Layer It With Highlight
Don’t just apply concealer to hide imperfections like circles under the eyes and other discolorations. Follow up with a highlighter that softens your skin. Tap in concealer (not too much) using a makeup brush. Next, layer over that concealer with a brightening concealer that gives a brightening effect and adds light to the area under your eye.
Prime Your Eyelids
Before you apply even a stitch of eyeshadow to your lids, cover up discoloration like blue veins and redness with an eyelid primer. Primer is like a concealer for lids that also preps them for shadow and helps make eyeshadows appear more vivid. Apple the primer, blend it into your lid, and then wait a few minutes for it to dry. Apply a nude eyeshadow all over the lid to help make your skin tone appear more even.
Apply Eyeliner
Using an eyeliner brush, apply a gel eyeliner in dark brown or black to the upper eyelid so that it looks lifted without look too made up. Gently pull your eye to side and find your last eyelash and mark it with the liner. Then, draw a line directly up from your eyelash (not outwards). Now, take the line and create a triangle back down to your lid. Fill in the triangle. Instant eye lift.
Fill in Your Eyebrows
One great technique for naturally filling in your eyebrows is to focus on three points: the tip of your nose to the corner of your eye, the corner of your nose to the center of your pupil, and then the tip of your nose to the edge of your eye. Fill in the blanks between these three points of your brows using a brow pencil that matches your hair as best as possible.
That’s it — five super-simple tips that will transform your daily makeup routine and give your face an instant life.
