Sirtfood Diet
To achieve this weight loss, Adele used the sirtfood diet. The Sirtfood Diet is designed to help you lose weight by incorporating more "sirtfoods" into your regular diet. Adele isn't the only celebrity to try this diet out. Pippa Middleton also has used the diet to achieve her lean figure.
According to Healthline, "This diet is based on research on sirtuins (SIRTs), a group of seven proteins found in the body that has been shown to regulate a variety of functions, including metabolism, inflammation, and lifespan. Certain natural plant compounds may be able to increase the level of these proteins in the body, and foods containing them have been dubbed 'sirtfoods.'"
According to Marie Claire UK: "Research has also shown [sirtuins] can help regulate your metabolism, increase muscle and burn fat."
Sirtfoods include: kale, bluerries, red wine, strawberries, apples, citrus fruits, onions, soy, parsley, extra virgin olive oil, dark chocolate (85% cocoa), matcha green tea, buckwheat, turmeric, walnuts, arugula (rocket), bird’s eye chili, lovage, Medjool dates, red chicory, capers, and coffee.
The diet is broken up into two phases that Marie Claire UK outlines. The first phase (week one) involves limiting your calorie intake to 1000/day, drinking three sirtfood green juices per day, and eating one sirtfood-rich meal per day. The diet is built to help you lose seven pounds in this first week.
The second phase (week two to three) allows you to increase your calorie intake to 1500/day. It also swaps one (of the three) sirtfood green juice for another sirtfood-rich meal.
Although the celebrity results are definitely impressive, it's always a good idea to consult your doctor or nutritionist before making drastic changes to your diet and restricting calories.
