Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been on a quest for a more peaceful life since stepping back from the royal family, and they’ve already found their new home in Vancouver Island, Canada.
Longtime friends of Harry spoke to ABC for its January 29 special “Royal Divide: Harry, Meghan, and the Crown”. Close friend and polo player Nacho Figueras explained that Harry simply did what he had to do his family by stepping away from his traditional royal life and duties.

“He’s being a father…a guy who is trying to protect his cub and his lioness from whatever it takes,” Figueras said during the special. Figueras further explained that Harry has suffered “a lot from all of the things that have happened to him” and that he continues to suffer from people judging him.

Harry, Meghan, and baby Archie have found tranquility in their new home of Canada. The family-of-three have been staying in a $14 million mansion on Vancouver Island where Meghan enjoys time with 9-month-old Archie and the family’s dogs on hikes.
An insider close to the royal couple told PEOPLE that Meghan and Harry “are enjoying living a quiet life.” It’s no secret that a private life away from the spotlight brings a lot of joy to both Meghan and Harry. “They go for long walks, they do yoga, and Meghan cooks. They are real homebodies who love to chill out with Archie and the dogs.” How sweet is that?!
It seems that time spent away from appearances and outings has been a much needed fresh start for both Meghan and Harry, and the couple is already prepared to occasionally step back into the public eye when needed.
According to PEOPLE, the couple made their first joint public appearance at a private JPMorgan event in Miami, Florida on February 6 where Harry gave a speech.
