If you are suffering with hair loss, taking a closer look at your hair care products is a good first step in achieving healthier hair. Although most people think that shampoo is the main culprit to look out for, but conditioners can have dangerous ingredients as well.

With that in mind, keep reading for the one conditioner you should stop using ASAP because it can lead to hair loss.

Sulfates

Sulfate are common ingredients in hair care products, but it is best to avoid this ingredient in your shampoos and conditioners, because it can lead to scalp irritation and hair dryness.

According to Lady Alopecia, sulfates can lead to serious problems: "These cleansing and foaming agents are pretty good at stripping the hair of debris and excess sebum. However, sometimes they do too good a job – removing your hair's natural oils at the same time, which can cause it to become brittle and damaged... perhaps even leading to hair loss as a result."

The two most common sulfates in hair products are sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) and sodium laureth sulfate (SLES), and both can lead to unnecessary hair loss.

With that in mind, checking your conditioner ingredients and avoiding any products that contain sulfates can be a great way to keep your hair healthy, strong, and hydrated.
