Your diet plays a big role in your weight loss, which is why it’s important to fill your meals with healthy, nutrient-foods that will help keep your metabolism and your body nourished.

There are plenty of fat-burning foods out there, but there’s one in particular that nutritionists always recommend having this high protein food at dinner to help burn more calories and keep you on track with your fitness goals–it’s salmon!

Salmon is loaded with heart-healthy omega-3 fatty acids that have been proven to help your body burn fat more efficiently. Your body will also burn more calories after eating salmon because of its high protein count, which is always digested better than carbs.

Studies show that salmon can help modulate insulin levels, too! "In one 2009 study, scientists fed three groups of volunteers low-calorie diets: no seafood (the control group), lean white fish or salmon. Everyone lost weight, but the salmon eaters had lower fasting insulin levels, which is far better for overall health. Weight loss is one partial explanation, researchers say, but the compounds in salmon (perhaps omega 3 fats like EPA and DHA) might also contribute to modulating insulin," according to Huffington Post

"Try eating salmon twice a week where you would normally eat a protein like chicken," explains Regina Fazzini, a New York-based nutritionist. "Fill your plate with leafy greens and other healthy veggies to deliver the nutrients your body needs to keep your metabolism revved and running smoothly."

If salmon isn't your thing, Fazzini recommends taking fish oil supplements to help get the same metabolism-boosting benefits without having to eat salmon.
