White Tea
It’s not as popular as green tea or black tea, but white tea has an amazing number of antioxidants and is even less processed than green or black tea, according to Healthline.
But white tea shares one thing in common with green tea that makes it a fat-burning potion: it contains both caffeine and catechins like EGCG that have both been proven to give your metabolism a kickstart.
“Together, these compounds seem to have a synergistic effect,” reports Healthline. “For instance, a test-tube study found that white tea extract was able to stimulate fat breakdown and prevent new fat cells from being formed. This was largely due to EGCG.”
Another study found that white tea may boost metabolism by 4 to 5 percent, resulting in the ability to burn an extra 70–100 calories per day. This tea strain is also a dynamo at preventing high blood sugar levels and keeping insulin balanced and regulated.
In addition to its metabolism-boosting effects, white tea’s antioxidants neutralize free radicals and help prevent damage to cells. It may protect against a number of diseases like Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, heart disease, and cancer.
Unfortunately, white tea hasn’t enjoyed the same attention or research funding given to green tea — so there’s a lot more we still have to learn about this tea type. But initial results look promising — so drink up in the morning and give your metabolism a little boost.
