Paying close attention to your diet is a good way to maintain your weight and avoid unnecessary weight gain. Specifically, keeping some foods out of your routine is a smart way to avoid overeating–especially foods high in empty calories and sodium.
Keep reading for the one food you should never eat because it causes immediate weight gain!
Potato Chips
Potato chips are a super popular snack. With so many different flavors, there's a potato chip for whatever you're craving.
Unfortunately, snacking on potato chips can have some seriously negative effects on your health--and your weight loss goals.
High in empty calories, fat, and sodium, these snacks make it extremely difficult for weight loss.
Empty calories lack beneficial nutrients, and do not fill you up as much--which is partly why it's so difficult to have just one chip. Because you are not getting full, you start eating more, which leads to weight gain.
According to The Healthy, potato chips are also addictive: "Potato chips are best known for two things: salt and fat. Studies have shown that eating salt triggers the release of dopamine, a chemical messenger that controls your brain’s pleasure center. Once your brain gets that first reward hit, it starts craving more."
With that in mind, eating potato chips in moderation is extremely difficult. To support weight loss, cutting out potato chips entirely might make the most sense.
