Because they're super convenient, muffins are a popular on-the-go breakfast. Unfortunately, they are a dangerous breakfast food for anyone hoping to lose weight.

Plus, according to the article, "many store bought muffins carry a hefty amount of calories--typically around 400 or more each."

Because many muffins are made from refined flour and sugar, many of these calories are empty and lacking nutritional value.

If you start your day with empty calories, it's likely that you'll be hungry again soon--and eager to go back for more. With that in mind, it might lead to overeating. If you are trying to establish healthy eating habits, this can make that really difficult.
